Win! Christmas ice skating at Westfield Stratford City

In London, one thing I notice about winter and the onset of Christmas, is the sudden appearance of outdoor ice skating rinks.  It always looks such fun and so festive with the Christmas lights lit up and a choice of whizzing (or stumbling in my case) around the ice or taking a break and warming your gloved hands around a cup of mulled wine.

So, with Christmas Day now only three weeks away - yes, only three weeks! - I'm offering one lucky reader a family ticket for four people (minimum of two children) to enjoy a spot of outdoor ice skating at Westfield Stratford City on the date of your choosing.  Ever fancied trying out some of those Dancing on Ice moves?  Now's your chance.

I really enjoy ice skating.  I'm not terribly good at it but I enjoy it.  I was lucky to have an indoor rink about 15 minutes away from where I grew up.  As a teenager, it was always a fun activity to do with friends.  We would always make it part of a day out or sometimes we'd coerce parents to take us there on a Friday night for the ice skating disco they would put on.  I always found it easy to pick up speed but never did master the art of stopping!  I think it's a great activity for learning balance and I can't wait to take Sophia next year when she's four-years-old.  We even practice our funny ice skating moves in the kitchen now and again!

The Westfield shopping centre's outdoor ice skating rink is open until Sunday 6th January 2013.  It's presented by Samsung and can be found in Market Square, near the Great Eastern Market and International Station.  Ice rink sessions last for one hour in total (this includes 45 minutes on the ice) and is suitable for children and adults from the age of four and upwards.  For those who aren't terribly confident on the ice, there are penguin stabilisers available, although these are for children - mums and dads who struggle will just have to get by the best they can.

To be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to enjoy some outdoor ice skating at Westfield Stratford City, all you have to do is to leave me a comment, telling me your best or worst ice skating experience and don't forget to let me know how to contact you (e.g. Twitter username).  For extra entries, you can:

For every extra entry, please leave me a separate comment telling me that you've done it - and I will be checking!

    1. my best ice skating experience was when i went with my school when i was worst was when i went to the ice skating disco and i fell on my bottom in the middle of the rink...I'm following blog(thought i was already)but followed again....I'm off to twitter and facebook :)

    2. My best experience was also one of my worst. Last year we were skating for the second time at the Natural History museum rink and I was feeling more confident (smug) so I went to do a twirl and in a split second I hit the the ice, flat on my back, with a massive thud and a cracking noise. I lay there in shock for a minute thinking I'd massively screwed up my back before I was helped up. Anticipating pain I gingerly started skating off the ice only to realise my back/hips felt funny and not sore - turns out the thwack forced my slightly out of place hips back into place - something that chiropractors and osteopaths had failed to achieve for over 20 years!!! Since then practically no lower back pain!
