Hi-de-hi, ho-de-ho, off to Butlins we will go!

What do you think of when you hear the word 'Butlins'?  Amazing holiday venue?  Red coats / blue coats / green coats / technicolour dream coats?  Wet T-shirt competitions and the like?

I've never been to Butlins myself but I've always had an idea that it's just like the fictional holiday camp portrayed in the 1980s sitcom, Hi-de-Hi.  However, I've been hearing rumours that this may not be the case...Maybe it never was.  So, I've decided to go undercover and bring you the truth about Butlins.

Okay, that last part may be a small, tiny fib.  I am going to be bringing you the truth about Butlins but I'm afraid there'll be no hiding behind the bins or peeking through their rubbish to do it.  Shame, I quite fancied myself as a spy.

Actually, the truth is more exciting (well, I think so anyway); I have been chosen to be a Butlins Ambassador!

You might think this strange considering I've never been to Butlins in the first place but I think that actually puts me in a unique position to bring you 'the facts' in a completely honest and objective way.  So, I'll be off to Butlins at some point between now and next July and will be blogging and vlogging (that's video blogging for those not in the know) my guts out to bring you a truthful, interesting and insightful account of the UK holiday company.  What will I uncover?  We shall see...

As well as the Butlins expose review, my role as an ambassador will also involve bringing you other news about the company via this blog and/or on Twitter and Facebook from time to time over the next 12 months.  Don't worry though, I won't make a habit of it.

I'm one of 40 (yes, 40!) bloggers who have been chosen to do this so, while you're here, why not pop over to see my fellow Butlins Ambassadors and give them a big hello / wave / snog?  Here they are:

  8. Let's hope it's not a 'mission impossible' ;-). In all seriousness, I'm really looking forward to this opportunity, the only question is; Skegness, Bognor or Minehead?
