Little Miss Helpful: A poem

I have a little helper,
She's a helpful little Miss.
A very good daughter,
And, at times, an even better sis'.

She helps me with the vacuuming,
And putting toys away.
Getting things tidy,
To play with them another day.

She helps me sweep the kitchen floor,
And even gives Dexter his dinner.
If I can keep this going,
I'm onto a real little winner.

I'm not advocating child labour.
Children shouldn't work for free.
So I feel very fortunate,
Sophia wants to do all this for me.

Now, I'm not saying Sophia's perfect.
She can be a total fright.
But when she's feeling helpful,
She's an absolute delight.

How about you? Do your children like to help around the house?

I love mum poems. It's brilliant. My 4 yo is also a little terror, but also very helpful and useful.

  3. Aw, so cute! What a fantastic poem too. I have an 8 year old and a 4 year old, and they like to help out every now and again. My 4 year old always wants to help put clothes in the washing machine with me, and the 8 year old likes washing things, like the floor! I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon lol :-)

  4. That's really lovely. I think children should help around the home. They get lots of praise for it and it's teaching them lots of good skills. My daughter will do things sometimes, she likes helping her sisters the best.

  6. We need to teach them early! Seriously, I do think it's good for them to get involved in chores around the house. It's great when they want to join in willingly

  7. I totally agree, just never expected Sophia would want to do it from such an early age. Once, when she was much younger, she spilt something on the floor, said "uh-oh", went to the kitchen cupboard, got out the dustpan and brush and then tried to sweep it up - now that really was cute! x
